State of the Georgia Girl Report

One-third of girls in Georgia identify as Black or African American - twice the representation as the national average. U.S. Census, ACS 1-Year Estimates, Tables B01001B-I, 2024, Georgia Race & Ethnicity, continued. Notably, the representation of girls identifying as Black or African American in Georgia is more than double the representation across the country. Over the last five years, growth in Georgia’s female youth population has been concentrated among girls identifying with more than one race or as Hispanic – a pattern consistent with demographic shifts across the South.
