State of the Georgia Girl Report
Confidence Requires Practice. GIRL SCOUT IMPACT The confidence a girl builds in Girl Scouts is not built in a moment - it is built in thousands of small ones. Every badge she earns is evidence she can start something and finish it. Every troop meeting she leads is proof her voice belongs at the table. Every hard thing she tries - a ropes course, a pitched Cookie booth, a Bronze Award project - teaches her that difficulty is a place she can survive. These are the years in which a girl’s sense of self hardens into something durable, and research from the Girl Scout Research Institute confirms that what she builds in the troop room does not stay there. The Girl Scout Alum Study finds that women who spent seven or more years as Girl Scouts report higher life satisfaction, higher educational attainment, and greater civic participation into their twenties and thirties than peers who never joined the program. The girl who learns at ten that she is capable of hard things becomes the woman at thirty who does hard things. 90% of Georgia Girl Scouts agree: “I am glad I’m me.”
