State of the Georgia Girl Report

CALL TO ACTION - PHYSICAL Valuing Her Body

The physical health of Georgia’s girls depends on the environments and resources around them - the places she moves, the meals she eats, the messages she hears (and sees). Building healthy girls will require adults to secure the physical, nutritional, and safety conditions that let her value her own body.

Movement . Girls engage in less physical activity than boys. We must protect movement time in schools and model movement as a daily habit.

Nutrition . Georgia girls exhibit healthier eating habits than the national average - a strength worth protecting through equitable food access, nutrition education, and vigilance against disordered eating.

Safe Spaces . Girls benefit from single-gender peer groups which recognize the unique experiences of girlhood in America.
