CALL TO ACTION - EMOTIONAL Adults Who Care

The crisis of mental and emotional health challenges for Georgia’s girls requires community-wide investments, but not necessarily in the extension of professional services. The most protective intervention research has ever documented is not a policy or a program - it is a caring, consistent adult in her life.

Show Up . Girls benefit when the adults in their daily lives can be present, attentive, and easy to bring a hard message to without fear of being minimized or judged.

Get Trained . Seek out training and research that recognizes girl specific symptoms of anxiety, depression, and other mental or emotional challenges - often internalized beliefs vs externalized behaviors.

Normalize . Girls must grow up in a state where conversations about mental health are neither remarkable nor stigmatized. Girls need to see that talking about how she feels is a normal part of growing up.
