State of the Georgia Girl Report
CALL TO ACTION - SOCIAL Her People, Her Place
By many accounts, Georgia girls belong to the loneliest generation on record. Still, their fundamental needs for social development remain unchanged - having a small, consistent group of peers who know her, and a place outside her home and classroom where she is free to try, fail, and try again.
Her Circle . Every girl needs a consistent peer group where the terms of belonging are agreed and stable - not a friend group re-negotiated in the school hallway every week - protecting against isolation and bullying.
Her Space . Communities should invest in accessible, affordable, and welcoming programs that invite every girl into a safe space beyond her bedroom and classroom.
Room to Try . In these spaces, girls need permission to attempt things she cannot attempt at school - take a real risk, fail visibly, change her mind about who she is going to be - without social and school consequences.
