CODING BASICS BADGE  Laptops, tablets, and smartphones are all computers. We use computers every day, and they help us in lots of ways. What makes all those computers work? People write instructions telling the computer what to do. By exploring how computer scientists write programs, you’ll learn how computers work, too! When : September 15, 2022 / 6:30 pm - 8 pm Cost : $10 per girl, $10 per adult COLLEGE KNOWLEDGE: DEMYSTIFYING FINANCIAL AID  In this webinar we'll discuss: sticker price vs. net price; how financial need is determined; federal grants, loans and work-study; the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and CSS Profile; state aid, institutional aid and outside scholarships; need-based aid vs. merit aid; and the role of financial aid in the admissions process. Girls who complete this session will fulfill Step 3 of the College Knowledge badge and/or YOUR GIRL SCOUT EXPERIENCE AND THE COLLEGE SEARCH  In this workshop for Ambassadors and parents, you'll learn how your Girl Scout experience can inform your college search and strengthen your college applications. We'll discuss what colleges are looking for, how to prepare strong applications and essays, standardized testing and test-optional admissions, and an overview of the financial aid system. When : October 2, 2022 / 4 pm - 5:30 pm Cost : $25 per girl Step 4 of the Financing My Future badge. When : September 18, 2022 / 4 pm - 5:30 pm Cost : $5 per girl

CYBER WEDNESDAY  Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors are invited to join us on Cybersecurity Wednesday. You will learn about different computer parts and how they work, just like you! We will also be discussing different ways to keep our technology safe. While we're talking, we will learn how computers talk to each other. Cybersecurity Basics Badge included! When : October 12, 2022 / 6:30 pm - 8 pm Cost : $10 per girl, $10 per adult In this webinar we'll share the latest on standardized testing and test-optional admissions. In addition to discussing current trends and the impact of COVID on the testing landscape, we'll explain how to choose the right test for you, develop your testing calendar and prep plan, and decide whether to send scores to test optional colleges. When : November 20, 2022 / 4 pm - 5 pm Cost : $15 per girl In this workshop for Seniors and their parents, girls will learn how their Girl Scout experience can make them stronger candidates for college and inform their college search. Educational consultant Becky Claster will discuss what colleges are looking for and how to develop your qualifications, as well as how to identify schools that will be a great fit. Participants will also receive a timeline for preparation and applications, including standardized testing and financial aid.
