Adult Training

You’re doing something amazing by volunteering with Girl Scouts - introducing girls to new experiences and being a great role model! Whether you’re new to Girl Scouts or a seasoned pro, we want to make sure you’re prepared for all the great experiences that are ahead. GSHG provides adult training courses through both our online learning platform and conducted by skilled and enthusiastic facilitators in-person throughout the year. Volunteers are encouraged to take advantage of as many courses as they can to provide the best experiences possible for girls!

Basic Backpacking Augusta August 8, 2025, 6:30 p.m.-August 9, 4:00 p.m.

Songs and S’mores Adult Training Augusta September 19, 2025; 6:00-9:00 p.m. Songs and S’mores gives participants the skills needed to safely build, tend, and put out a campfire the Girl Scout way, make s’mores, and lead a campfire program with their Girl Scout troop or group. This training is required before building fires with Girl Scouts. $8 per person Please register by September 8, 2025.

Basic Backpacking gives the skills needed to take Girl Scouts on a backpacking overnight trip. Course pre-requisite: tent camping experience. $15 per person Please register by August 6, 2025.

Basic Outdoor Skills Macon August 29, 2025, 4:00 p.m.-August 30, 5:00 p.m. Basic Outdoor Skills training gives leaders the skills needed to take Girl Scouts on a beginning outdoor overnight experience. $30 per person Please register by August 21, 2025.

Basic Outdoor Skills Augusta

September 27, 2025, 8:00 a.m.-September 28, 12:00 p.m. Basic Outdoor Skills training gives leaders the skills needed to take Girl Scouts on a beginning outdoor overnight experience. $30 per person Please register by September 15, 2025.

Volunteers who complete these trainings are welcome to purchase the variety of training patches (shown to the right) exclusively from our Macon shop! These are official GSHG Adult Training patches and can be worn on the front of the adult vest.
